DESCRIPTION
Ohio State officially dedicated its new stadium against its rival on Oct. 21, 1922 as the largest crowd to ever see a football game in the Midwest descended upon Ohio Stadium. The final attendance topped out at 72,500. Among those in attendance were Ohio State president William Oxley Thompson, engineering professor Thomas French, who is credited with first pushing for the construction of Ohio Stadium, and director of athletics L. W. St. John.
